What a free social game is, in plain terms

Faint Field publishes Free Social Games and nothing else. You arrive at a page, a demo game is already waiting, and you play it. Nobody asks who you are. There is no sign-up step, no wallet to fill and no counter anywhere on this site that takes a payment. The plates on the grid are denominated in virtual credits, and virtual credits are worth precisely nothing the moment you close the tab.

The distinction is worth stating clearly, because the shape of the thing is familiar. Grids, multipliers and cascading wins are the vocabulary of products that move real money. This one borrows the vocabulary and leaves the money out. Nothing you do here can gain you money, cost you money, or be converted into money at some later point.

What we are actually building is closer to a working museum model than to a product. The mechanism runs honestly, the numbers behave the same way every time, and the stakes are made of nothing. The Deep Field plate set is drawn from the kind of equipment a survey annexe would genuinely have kept in a cabinet, and the grid can be poked at for as long as you like without the model falling apart.

III. Reading The Field

Clusters, settling and the chain

The Plate Room Nine frame is six columns across and five rows deep, so thirty plates are exposed at once. Wherever five or more identical plates touch along an edge, above, below, left or right, they count as one cluster and clear together. A corner touch is not a touch. Diagonals never join a cluster, which keeps the shapes readable when the tethers are drawn over them.

Once a cluster clears, whatever sat above it falls into the gap and new plates enter from the top of the frame. If the settled arrangement happens to form another cluster, that one clears too, and the sequence continues on its own. A run of those is a chain.

How the chain multiplier moves

Each step of a chain advances the multiplier one position along the track above the grid. It opens at one, then climbs through two, four, seven and beyond while the tumbles keep going. Watching a long chain unwind is the most interesting thing this page can do, and it is the reason the default pace is unhurried rather than instant.

The panel, control by control

• Stake chooses how many virtual credits each observation spends. The two buttons step it through five fixed values and stop at either end.
• Rapid compresses the animation for anyone who would rather not sit through it.
• Observe exposes a fresh plate of thirty.
• Session Net shows the gap between what you have staked and what has come back, for this browser tab and nothing beyond it.

Every part of that runs locally, in your own browser, on your own device. No outcome is requested from a server, no result is reported back, and nothing survives a refresh. If the credit counter empties, it refills itself so you can carry on.

IV. Virtual Credits

What virtual credits are, and what they are not

The counter opens at three thousand. It falls when you observe and rises when a cluster registers. That is the entire life of the number.

Virtual credits cannot be bought. No page on this site accepts a payment, and none ever will. They cannot be sold, traded, gifted or moved to another player, because there are no other players and no accounts between which anything could move. They cannot be withdrawn, converted or redeemed for cash, goods, vouchers, tokens or an entry into anything at all.

They also do not persist. Nothing about your play is written to your device. Reload the page and the counter is back at three thousand, which is the plainest demonstration we can offer that it is a readout rather than a balance.

Should the counter reach zero, the game tops it back up without being asked. There is nothing here to run out of, and correspondingly nothing to top up.

VII. Device Controls

Self-exclusion and controls that live on your device

Sites in this space usually offer a self-exclusion tool that locks an account for a fixed period. We cannot offer one, for the simple reason that there are no accounts to lock. What we can do is point you at the controls that work whether or not a website cooperates, which are the ones already sitting on your own hardware.

• Browser and network blocking. Every major browser supports extensions that block a list of sites, and most home routers and mobile operating systems carry the same capability built in. A block applied at that level cannot be undone by clearing a cookie.
• Parental and screen-time controls. Windows, macOS, iOS and Android all ship with content filters and time limits. These are the right tool when the concern is somebody else in the household rather than yourself.
• Dedicated blocking software. Tools such as GamBan and BetBlocker exist specifically to block gambling and gambling-adjacent sites across a device or an entire network, and they are free or inexpensive.

If you have already self-excluded from real-money gambling, or you are part way through a programme with a support service, adding free social games to the same block list is a reasonable step. What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There is no registration, no form and no input field anywhere on this site that asks for personal information. We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, date of birth or payment details, because no function on the site would have any use for them.

Game data

Your stake, your credit counter and your session totals sit in your browser's memory for as long as the tab stays open. They are never transmitted to us and never written to your device. Closing or refreshing the page discards all of it.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. It uses no local storage, no session storage and no comparable mechanism, and it loads no third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or advertising tags that could set one on our behalf. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Your browser may still keep its own ordinary cache of the page files, which is outside our control and holds nothing about you.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web server request logs, which can include an IP address, a timestamp and a browser user agent string. These exist to keep the site running and secure, are not tied to any identity, and are not used to build a profile or shared for advertising.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal information about you, there is generally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to privacy@faintfield.com and we will respond.

Acceptable use

Use the site as it is presented. Do not interfere with it, probe it for vulnerabilities, script or automate play, reverse engineer it for republication, or use it in any way that misleads somebody about what it is. Do not present it to a person under 18.

Virtual credits and no cash value

Virtual credits are a display feature of a demo game. They are not money, not a deposit, not a stored balance and not property. They cannot be purchased, sold, transferred, withdrawn, redeemed or exchanged for anything of value, and they carry no value outside this page.
